Evolving VeraSol Product Certification

VeraSol is transitioning its product certification operational model for off-grid solar energy systems and appliances. Get the latest on our evolving product certification approach.

As a global quality assurance program for off-grid solar products, VeraSol has been instrumental in strengthening product quality, enhancing transparency, and building consumer trust across the sector. This work has helped over 100 million people gain access to modern energy solutions.

As the market grows and diversifies, VeraSol is evolving its certification model to better meet sector needs, enhance financial sustainability, and continue to deliver high-impact quality assurance services.

In the next phase, VeraSol envisions a decentralized certification operational model delivered by trusted commercial partners—ensuring quality, expanding access, and accelerating innovation in global markets.

In this vision, VeraSol will:

  • Empower a network of commercial partners to take on a larger role in delivering product certification services for solar energy kits (SEKs), while VeraSol will provide oversight to uphold the program’s high standards for technical rigor and consumer protection.
  • Expand the certification framework to include productive use of renewable energy (PURE) technologies, such as solar water pumps, refrigerators, and other high-impact PURE products.
  • Enable sector stakeholders to take meaningful ownership and actively share responsibility in driving and sustaining VeraSol’s success.

VeraSol will work with industry stakeholders to ensure the new model continues to serve the sector effectively. See below for an estimated timeline of the transition.

Beginning August 2026, commercial partners will kick off their expanded role, taking over several steps of the certification process that were previously managed by VeraSol. See below for a summary of how certification roles will change.

VeraSol is committed to keeping this transition process transparent and will continue to share updates as new details are confirmed. Stay in the loop through updates and resources below.
