Changes to VeraSol Certification Process Take Effect August 17

A Chinese translation is available at the end of the update.

Effective August 17, VeraSol-approved test lab partners Intertek GTS and Shenzhen Academy of Metrology and Quality Inspection (SMQ) have an expanded role in the solar energy kit certification process. Companies seeking certification should contact one of these approved partners rather than contacting VeraSol directly and work with that partner throughout the testing and certification process. CLASP will continue to issue final VeraSol certificates and publish products on the VeraSol Product Database for those that meet the quality standards.

What does this mean for client companies?

  • If you are already working with the VeraSol team to certify a product and have already signed a service order, you will continue to work with VeraSol to complete the testing and certification process.
  • If you are already working with the VeraSol team but have not yet signed a service order, you may continue working with VeraSol or transition to working directly with an approved partner. If you want to continue working with VeraSol, you must sign a service order by September 30. After that time, you must select and work with an approved partner instead. If you transition to working with an approved partner, VeraSol will help transfer your documentation over to the partner to continue the process.
  • If you are just starting the process of certifying a product, please reach out to an approved partner directly to begin the testing and certification process.

With the transition, VeraSol is changing our pricing structure. Companies will pay the selected partner directly for testing and certification. Companies will continue to pay CLASP for any special services that do not involve testing, such as making changes to an existing specification sheet. Updated pricing goes into effect today.

To learn more about the transition and to access additional resources, visit the Certification Transition webpage on the VeraSol website.

VeraSol and GOGLA will host a webinar on 3 September 2026 to share more details about the new certification process and give participants the opportunity to hear directly from Intertek and SMQ. In addition, learn more about other services VeraSol offers, including appliance testing. The webinar will be hosted in English with Mandarin translation available as needed and will include an audience question-and-answer segment. Register for the webinar.
